Now that I’ve seen Batman v Superman twice, I’m allowing myself to delve in and read all of the articles out there about the movie, in particular the fact that despite almost overwhelmingly negative reviews, the movie seems to been successful a the box office.

The critics have been completely mauling this film and I don’t really understand it.  Last I looked, it was at 30% on Rotten Tomatoes when it was so much better than e.g. Mockingjay 2 which is at 70% at Rotten Tomatoes.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a Hunger Games fan but Mockingjay 2 was a bit of a mess compared to the other movies and yet it managed ( Read more... )

I've had a few favourites in recent years. Pacific Rim was my absolute favourite for a variety of reasons followed closely by Man of Steel. I also really, really liked Edge of Tomorrow. Recently, Mad Max: Fury Road has come along and claimed the pole position, not just because it's shiny, new and chrome with lots of interesting characters ... It's ( Read more... )

I love Superman! I just watched Man of Steel tonight and loved it - it really felt like a Superman film. Wasn't a huge fan of Henry Cavill while he was in his hairy angsty Lost in Wilderness phase but as clean-shaven Superman, he was jaw-droppingly hot.
